The New Economy Initiative for Southeast Michigan
Guidelines for grantmaking are now available for nonprofits
interested in applying to the New Economy Initiative for Southeast
Michigan, an innovative philanthropic effort aimed at helping
to restore southeast Michigan to a position of leadership
in the new global economy. Ten local and national foundations,
including the Community Foundation, have committed $100 million
to this unique eight-year effort. Its goal is to accelerate
the transition of southeast Michigan to an innovation-based

Magglio Ordoñez Establishes Scholarship Fund
Tigers outfielder and slugger Magglio Ordoñez has
established the Ordoñez Family Scholarship Fund to
benefit students of southwest Detroit high schools. Click
