Charitable Giving Guide (Download Adobe PDF document)
Spring 2005

The vast majority of southeast Michigan residents do not have a will or estate plan. Among those who do have an estate plan, only a small percentage include a gift to charity. Yet, charitable gifts through one's estate plan - called planned gifts - provide nonprofit organizations the permanent assets they need to grow and remain strong.

The Charitable Giving Guide, published by the Community Foundation and the Detroit Free Press, answers common questions about estate planning and charitable planned giving. The guide describes how individuals and families can use wills, estate plans and trusts to provide for those they love, while also using part of their accumulated assets to support their favorite charitable causes.
